PM SHRI School is a centrally sponsored scheme by the Government of India. This initiative is intended to make every student feel welcomed and cared for, where a safe and stimulating learning environment exists, where a wide range of learning experiences are offered, and where good physical infrastructure and appropriate resources conducive to learning are available to all students.
It will nurture students in a way that they become engaged, productive, and contributing citizens for building an equitable, inclusive, and plural society as envisaged by the National Education Policy 2020.
Our School has been functioning as PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalya from 2023-24 and various activities are conducted as per the directions issued by the KVS HQ
1.COMPOSTING FACILITY & KITCHEN GARDEN
Vermi composting pit construction was done for biodegradable food waste, garden clippings, and other organic materials. By diverting this waste from landfills, we aim to significantly reduce environmental footprint.
2.DRIP IRRIGATION
Drip irrigation system followed using discarded plastic bottles to increase green spaces, reduce water waste and promote a more environmentally conscious Vidyalaya community.
3.COVERING AREAS OF SCHOOL WITH GRASS AND DIFFERENT PLANTATION VARIETIES
A conscious effort is taken by the Vidyalaya to cover the spaces of the Vidyalaya by grass and different varieties of plants .
4. SWACHHTA PAKHWADA : FIELD VISIT
In connection with the Swachhta Pakhwada , the Vidyalaya has organised a Field trip for the students to CSIR CLRI Pyrolysis Pilot Plant , to understand the techniques and process involved in the solid waste management.
5.ORGANISING HEALTH CAMPS
The Vidyalaya has organized a complete health and eye check up camp for the students in collaboration with Kavery Hospital Chennai. Expert doctors of the Kauvery Hospital did an overall health inspection for the students.
6.SRIHARIKOTA VISIT
As a part of PM Shri activities, the Vidyalaya organized a visit to SHAR for students of classes IX and XI .This visit has offered invaluable insights into the advancements in science, technology, and space exploration.
7.VISIT TO KRISHI VIGYAN KENDRA, CHENGALPATTU.
An educational field visit to KVK , Chengalpattu for approximately 300 students was organized by the Vidyalaya. Various aspects of agricultural practices were explored at KVK, and students gained valuable insights into animal husbandry, vermicomposting techniques, and more.
8.MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME BY EMINENT SCIENTISTS OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL REPUTE
Our students of class VIII and IX had the privilege of participating in an enlightening mentorship programme conducted by esteemed scientists Dr. Mudit Dixit and Dr. Amit Vernekar . Dr. Mudit and Dr. Amit, renowned experts in their fields, conducted engaging sessions which captivated the students’ minds and stimulated their intellect. Through interactive discussions, they delved into the complex principles, properties, and applications of advanced materials and polymer chemistry.
By immersing themselves in the world of science under the guidance of these eminent scientists, PM SHRI KV CLRI students gained invaluable knowledge, inspiration, and guidance that will shape their academic and professional journeys.
9.SELF DEFENCE FOR GIRLS
Empowering girl students to fight against crime has been the call of the day. As part of PM Shri activities, the Vidyalaya has arranged self defence training for girl students to equip them with required skills and techniques to defend themselves from any kind of antisocial element prevailing in the society today.
10.AEP/GUIDANCE & COUSELLING/ HANDS ON – SKILLS
The Vidyalaya has organized sessions for Adolescent girls, guidance and counselling sessions, hands on vocational training and experiences to the students.
11.INFRASTRUCTURE AND OTHER FACILITIES
The Vidyalaya has class rooms with Interactive panels, desktop computers under digital library, various activity kits for students, aids and appliances for CWSN and has procured various sports equipments. Washrooms are equipped with Vending machines and Incinerators.
